maps

I love maps. I collect them. A map can say, "look at me, this is how the world is." And yet maps have bias and can only show one perspective, blocking out other points of view. But just like each person has a point of view so each map takes on a persona. A map may end up telling you more about itself than the piece of earth featured.

Just like I am drawn to people, trying to understand their point of view and situation, I am fascinated by maps and the circumstances of their creation. Maps are so beautiful for all their one-sidedness just like people are beautiful for all their imperfections.
